Navy Coat

Her Little coat

My first attempt at a little coat. I've seen this type of pattern / look before in the books, and always wondered what it would be like to attempt it. I imagined it would be difficult and I would run into many roadblocks...but like with many things, once you simply go ahead and do it...I find you will be surprised to know your own ability.

I am really quite impressed with this item and of course pleased with myself :) Hooray, hooray!
The original pattern did not have a lining, but I felt this sweet floral cotton was a perfect match with the navy and I was not willing to give it up - even though it did bring a few creases. I ended up readjusting it a couple of times and even letting it sit on the chair for a few days before I tried again......but very worth it I think. Some things are just a good match, and I am glad I went through the effort of putting a lining in.

The final touch was of course buttons. I had bought 2 different sets, but found that the colours were a bit off so I ended up wrapping some buttons one night. Actually, I have to give credit where it is due -- and that is Hannah did it with me! I told her we were making buttons and she allowed me to wrap some up when she collected them. Hahahha, of course the television was on animal channels so I could distract her every so often when I needed a bit a few more seconds to concentrate.

Do you like it? I sure hope so, I'd really like to work with this pattern again.
Love.
