* Salt Dough Christmas Decorations *

Little decorations for your home

I adore these! They are soo adorable and fun, it's called salt dough.
Have you heard of it before? Apparently a lot of people have....but this is my first time & definately not the last.  It's so super simple and not very messy at all, here is the recipe.

1 cup of salt
2 cups of flour
1 cup of warm water

Mix it up and you have it! Roll it out and get out your cookie cutters, stamps, anything that can make an imprint. Finally, bake them in the oven on a low heat at 90/93 degrees or 220F  for about 2 hours, or once hard. (I burnt my first batch) and remember.......Do not eat, no matter how tempting!!
It took a lot of convincing my little girl that they weren't made with sugar & butter afterwards.

Some of them have holes in them in case we want to hang them up, take a straw and just put it through.
It's such a fun project, and once they were dry we painted some and left some plain.
We used watercolours but I think we over-dosed it in water cause some of them got a bit soggy afterwards (oops)  Luckily, we have lots more!

Hope you try these & make some fun memories with your kiddies.
Love

  1. It is such a good idea to make things of this dough, and the best thing is that it is totally safe for instance for small children too :)

  3. Hi! I've finished salt dough ornaments a few days ago, they are simple, quick and fund to do, right? Now, I'm making fridge magnets with my little boy. so much fun, and safe for him.

Just a hint; I add a small dollop of PVA glue for the dough to be more flexible and smooth, and the finished piece do not crumble at all.

    Happy crafting and Happy Holiday!!
